History
RUSTOP was founded in 1982 by Alex G. Schmidt, a well-known entrepreneur of the collision repair industry. Due to his experience and knowledge of the automotive industry, and the fact that vehicles rust, he decided to formulate a product that would assist customers in preventing their vehicles from rusting. After extensive research and time, he was able to create a truly complete automotive rust control program which was introduced to the retail market within his Schmidt’s Collision & Glass locations.
For the past 25 years, Alex has only offered RUSTOP corrosion control in his collision shops. Based on the increasing demand for protecting vehicles from rust, and the number of individuals who travel a few hours to have this treatment applied, he decided to open additional satellite RUSTOP locations to make it more accessible and convenient for the customer. As of September 2007, we have opened additional RUSTOP satellite centers throughout Western New York, and are currently in the process of opening more locations.
